Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

Thanks to Yahoo! I found out about Susan Boyle and what an inspiration and touching story of rags to riches for me. The Web went abuzz after Ms. Boyle sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables during Britain's Got Talent. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges including Simon Cowell either speechless or in tears (A big WOAH). If I may add, brought some people to shame.

Her background life story doesn't reflect the kind of talent or presence that people thought she would bring on stage. She lives alone with her ten-year-old cat, has never been kissed, and is teased by children in the street. You probably can't able to imagine the kind of pain that she has to gone through life everyday. I do not know because she seems like a nice and a bright lady who can be seen constantly smiling even when she sings. Maybe that kind of life made her that strong inside. I feel her though, I know the feeling of being misunderstood, looked down on, ignored and being laughed at. I've been there but not as bad as hers.

I feel so happy for her. In my opinion, the song "I Dreamed a Dream" that she sang really expressed the kind of life that she had. Finally she has the last laugh. Don't ever judge a book by its cover until you read its contents.

Les Miserables - I Dreamed a Dream

There was a time, when men were kind

And their voices were soft

And their words were inviting

There was a time, when love was blind

And the world was a song

And the song was exciting

There was a time it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by

When hope was high and life worth living

I dreamed that love would never die

I dreamed that God would be forgiving

Then I was young and unafraid

And dreams were made and used and wasted

There was no ransom to be paid

No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night

With their voices soft as thunder

As they turn your hope apart

As they turn your dreams to shame

He slept a summer by my side

He filled my dreams with endless wonder

He took my childhood in his stride

But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'd come to me

That we would live the years together

But there are dreams that cannot be

And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be

So different from the hell I'm living

So different now from what it seemed

Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
